Public affairs

When working with companies in the area of public affairs I brief the client on public sector developments and help them maintain a good rapport with the representatives of national, regional and local authorities, representatives of NGOs and local communities.

I have a thorough understanding of these environments due to my previous capacity in 2006-2008 as the head of the Sobieski Institute, one of Poland’s leading think-tanks. Under my leadership the Institute implemented projects which helped facilitate co-operation between representatives of public administration and members of distinguished business circles.

I co-ordinated expert teams responsible for providing policy recommendations for leading decision-makers. I oversaw the preparation of reports for ministries and the bodies of central administration, i.e. the Ministry of Economy or the Energy Regulatory Authority.

I organised domestic and international conferences and seminars with MPs, MEPs, ministries, officials and experts of the high rank. I organised and conducted public debates with Polish and foreign guests.

I advised The Economist magazine on material relating to Poland, this included connecting the publication with senior public administration officials.

When working on my doctoral dissertation, published as a book in 2010, Game for Europe, Poland's accession negotiations with the European Union, I met leading negotiators and political decision-makers. Owing to those talks, including unofficial ones, I managed to recreate the negotiation process accurately, and especially to investigate the influence of the public opinion, political parties and stakeholders on Poland's position. The English version of the book - Poland’s EU Accession - has just been released by a prestigious publishing house Routledge.

The scope of public affairs services I provide comprises of, amongst others, several facets which make it easier to run a successful business:

  • analysis of political environment,
  • stakeholders' identification and assessment,
  • action strategy development and implementation.

As a political scientist and consultant with more than ten years of experience I share my knowledge of the political environment and know-how on how the environments of local authorities function.

As a lawyer, a graduate of the LLM master's course in the field of comparative constitutional law at the Central European University in Budapest, I understand the legislative process, both, at the international, national as well as local level.

As a result of my Polish background and my professional and academic career, I have a strong grasp of the mechanics of democratic transformation. Democracy can be fiddly and I believe my experience can be valuable to countries undergoing a transition – in particular I can help steer public institutions, politicians and civil society in Eastern Europe towards a democratic, European future.

I co-operate with international public relations agencies and this – combined with experience gained during my university course and scientific work outside Poland (Oxford University and London School of Economics (LSE)) as well as contacts with international organisations allow me to understand well the international environment and the relations prevailing there.
